Objetivo: comparar las complicaciones inmediatas en pacientes ostomizados que reciben cuidados de enfermería especializados en ostomías (OSC) o que no reciben OSC (no OSC). Métodos: se realizó un estudio multicéntrico, nacional, prospectivo y cuasi-experimental para evaluar las complicaciones de la ostomía y su impacto en 402 pacientes. Resultados: el uso de OSC dio lugar a una menor proporción de pacientes con complicaciones. Las complicaciones fueron menos graves y tuvieron una duración más corta; los ingresos hospitalarios también fueron menos frecuentes y más breves; y se necesitaron menos procedimientos quirúrgicos. Además, los pacientes son más capaces de manejar las ostomías y requieren menos ayuda para sus actividades de la vida diaria (AVD). Además, los sentimientos de ansiedad y/o depresión derivados de las ostomías eran menores en los pacientes que recibían OSC. Por último, el número de bolsas de ostomía por 24 horas se mantuvo constante en los pacientes que recibieron OSC, mientras que los pacientes que no recibieron OSC utilizaron un número creciente de bolsas. Conclusiones: una evaluación general de nuestros resultados apoya la hipótesis sobre la importancia de los profesionales de enfermería especialistas, tal y como se recoge en la literatura. Se pueden resolver las dudas y problemas de los pacientes y prevenir y/o tratar las complicaciones. Así, la OSC se convierte en un referente sanitario para el paciente ostomizado.

Cystic fibrosis or mucoviscidosis is a hereditary disease of the exocrine glands that mainly affects the digestive and respiratory apparatus. This is the most frequent genetic disease in the white race. It is a recessively inherited disease: both parents must be carriers, that is, both must have a defective copy of the cystic fibrosis or CF gene.
